Phase Two of the process to develop the Harrisonburg Rockingham Metropolitan Planning Organization’s (HRMPO) 2045 long range transportation plan LRTP began in August and closed in mid-September.

HRMPO is in the process of developing the 2045 Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP). Phase 2 of the LRTP process is focused on gathering feedback on a list of proposed transportation projects, known as the draft Universe of Projects. 

HRMPO is offering several opportunities to gather feedback and input that will guide the region’s 2045 long range transportation plan (LRTP), which is now in its second phase of development. The plan will cover all modes of travel, including transit, highways, bicycles, and pedestrians. 

Earlier this year the HRMPO engaged the community through a visioning survey for the Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP). Through this survey community members provided input on their vision for the transportation system, and their transportation needs and priorities for the next 25 years. 

Virginia travelers can now search local transportation options in a "one-click" directory for public transit, human service, and specialized transportation providers and services. The service, called Transportation Navigator, is according to the Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT)

VDOT will host a citizen information meeting for the planned widening of Interstate 81 in the Harrisonburg area. This project widens I-81 northbound and southbound to three lanes between mile marker 242.2 in Rockingham County and 248.5 in Harrisonburg.

The Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT) is developing the Statewide Rail Plan (SRP) projects, policies, and initiatives that will guide future growth and development in Virginia.
