VDOT’s Strategically Targeted Affordable Roadway Solutions (STARS) program “develop(s) comprehensive, innovative transportation solutions to relieve congestion bottlenecks and solve critical traffic and safety challenges throughout the Commonwealth.” The study will evaluate operational and safety conditions and identify short- and long-term improvements for a segment of South Main Street from Mosby Road to Stone Spring Road/Erickson Avenue. It will also evaluate and perform preliminary design work for an innovative intersection at Erickson Avenue & Pear Street.

The study team met on December 3, 2019, to review an analysis of future traffic conditions for no build and build conditions with various treatments to address identified issues. A preferred alternative will be selected to carry forward into more detailed analysis, project cost estimating, and a public input phase. Additional details regarding this study, including results from an initial public survey, can be found on the VDOT project page.

The public meeting occurs on Wednesaday February 5, 2020 from 5-6:30pm at City of Harrisonburg Department of Public Works, 320 E Mosby Rd, Harrisonburg, VA 22801.

Please participate in and help us share a new public survey! The survey went live today and will run through February 14. The link will be shared in meeting advertisements and direct mailings to property owners:
